INGRAM MICRO ASSOCIATES CONTRIBUTE $1 MILLION TO UNITED WAYSANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 7, 1999Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale distributor of technology products and services, announced today that the company and its U.S. associates will donate $1 million to the United Way organization. The company's internal campaign, which was kicked off in the U.S. in August at eight of the company's locations, encouraged Ingram Micro associates to contribute to the many worthwhile causes the United Way assists. Ingram Micro associates contributed to the campaign donating more than $676,000 to seven different United Way organizations in the United States. The company then matched these contributions $.50 to every dollar, donating more than $325,000, bringing the total donation to $1 million dollars to be donated by the end of 1999. "Supporting the United Way is an important element in our corporate giving program," states Jeffrey R. Rodek, president and worldwide chief operating officer at Ingram Micro. "Ingram Micro sponsors programs like this one every year because we believe it is crucial to give back to our communities. This year we are very pleased to announce that our contribution to United Way increased by 79 percent over last year's campaign." The following United Way organizations will benefit from these contributions: United Way of Orange County, Calif.; United Way of the Mid-South, Memphis, Tenn.; United Way of Western New York, Buffalo, NY; United Way of Miami-Dade, Miami, Fla.; United Way of the Capital Region; Harrisburg, Penn; United Way of the Bay Area, San Francisco, Calif. and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, TX.
