INGRAM MICRO ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN INTEGRATION CENTERCompany to acquire assembly assets of Tulip Computers.SANTA ANA, Calif., May 19, 1998Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today announced an agreement with The Netherlands-based Koninklijke Begemann Group N.V. to acquire the assembly facilities of Tulip Computer N.V. The Ingram Micro acquisition of the Tulip assets is contingent upon The Begemann Group's successful completion of its purchase of Tulip, which remains subject to reaching definitive agreement on certain aspects of the transaction and receipt of all required approvals. The parties have initially targeted early June 1998 as the possible closing date for these transactions. Ingram Micro will acquire a long-term lease for approximately 18,200m2 of assembly, warehouse and office space located in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, and certain equipment and other assets related to the assembly and warehouse operations. The current capacity of the facility is approximately 1.1 million units per year. In addition, Ingram Micro also plans to extend offers of employment to approximately 145 Tulip employees. "The Netherlands facility is a highly automated plant, employing experienced people using state-of-the-art manufacturing systems, i.e., SAP. The facility is strategically located, providing a centralized hub to better serve our Frameworks customers in Europe." Frameworks Total Integration Services is Ingram Micro's worldwide channel assembly and configuration initiative that delivers customized, fully tested systems to resellers. The first global integration center was announced on March 11, 1998, in Memphis, Tenn.
