(NYSE:IM) today announced its financial results for the fiscal year and fourth quarter ended January 2, 1999. Net income for the fiscal year 1998 was $245.2 million, or $1.64 per share, exceeding net income in 1997 by 27 percent. Net sales for the year grew 33 percent to $22.0 billion. Net income for the fourth quarter was $73.2 million, or $0.49 per share, exceeding net income in the previous year's quarter by 6 percent. The company posted record net sales in the fourth quarter of 1998 of $6.22 billion, growing 21 percent over the $5.13 billion achieved in the same quarter last year.
