INGRAM MICRO LAUNCHES IMAGING DIVISIONSANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 20, 1999Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale distributor of technology products and services, announced today the formation of an Imaging division. Joaquin P. Samper, 36, director, will manage the division which will provide a focused and dedicated approach to the consumer, professional, printing and publishing, as well as applied imaging markets. The new division will take advantage of the company's already 3,000 SKU-strong imaging product lines in the United States, by aligning the product mix to the specifications and requirements of resellers, value-added resellers (VARs), and system integrators serving the imaging market. The imaging industry is filled with unique complexity and sophisticated technical and channel interdependencies. Said Samper: "Clearly, there is an overwhelming momentum toward analog and digital conversion, but, if analyzed on a customer segment basis, there are countless cost/benefit and application dependent reasons why a customer might wish to either utilize hybrid imaging tools or pure analog imaging technology. Samper joined Ingram Micro in September 1997 as director of business development for the Latin American region. He has 10 years experience working for Lifetouch, Eastman Kodak and AT&T.
