BUY.COM NAMES HAWKINS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

ALISO VIEJO and SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 23, 1999

BUY.COM Inc. and Ingram Micro Inc. today announced that Gregory J. Hawkins, 44, senior vice president, global sales for Ingram Micro, has resigned from the company to accept the position of chief executive officer of BUY.COM, effective March 1, 1999.

Hawkins brings to BUY.COM a record of superior leadership and the experience to architect successful programs with significant benefit to BUY.COM, its partners, advertising clients and customers. He joined Ingram Micro in 1990, and was responsible most recently for directing the U.S. sales organization, including commercial and field sales, major account and customer program management operations, as well as the education/government and services divisions. In addition, Hawkins was responsible for overseeing the company's global sales programs.

"The CEO search was a long process and well worth the wait because Greg fits the chemistry and style of BUY.COM," said Scott Blum, founder and chairman of BUY.COM. "Greg is very familiar with our company and its business model and knows the Internet industry well. Given this, Greg will be able to make immediate contributions to the company with his proven management and leadership capabilities, as well as his extensive experience in the distribution field. It makes him an ideal candidate to help further establish BUY.COM as the leading force in the e-commerce industry."

"We are very pleased for Greg and wish him great success," said Phillip D. Ellett, executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro North America. "For nearly 10 years, Greg has been a big contributor in the rapid expansion of our company, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Greg as our customer."

Prior to his tenure with Ingram Micro, Hawkins served as director of marketing for Digital Sound Corp., vice president of sales and marketing for a division of Mitel and, prior to that, he was with GTE.

With this announcement, Scott Blum will retain the title and responsibilities as the company's founder and chairman of the board. Also, the board of directors has elected Allen C. Barbieri, the company's current chief financial officer to the position of president and CFO.
