INGRAM MICRO NAMED ON FORTUNE'S LIST OF 100 BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR IN AMERICA

SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 4, 1999

Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale distributor of technology products and services, announced today it made FORTUNE magazine's prestigious list of the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America." FORTUNE's second annual survey listed Ingram Micro in 68th place - the only technology wholesale distributor to make the list.

"We are excited and proud to be ranked with some of the world's most respected companies," said Sanat Dutta, executive vice president and president of Ingram Micro North America. "This ranking is a direct reflection of the success of Ingram Micro's values-based leadership business model. Our associates are our only sustainable advantage, and we truly appreciate them."

Ingram Micro randomly selected 250 associates to complete the Great Places to Work Trust Index, designed to evaluate trust in management, pride in work and camaraderie, along with the Hewitt People Practices Inventory, a 31-page questionnaire developed by Hewitt Associates, a management consulting firm. Candidates were rated on a 175-point scale, based on responses from the employee survey, the written comments, the Inventory questionnaire and supporting materials, including employee handbooks, videos and company newsletters.
