INGRAM MICRO FIRST DISTRIBUTOR TO RECEIVE HIGHEST ASSEMBLY CERTIFICATION FROM COMPAQSANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 11, 1999Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today announced it has achieved the highest level of competency certification in Compaq Computer Corporation's channel assembly program. Ingram Micro is the first wholesale distributor to receive this designation. Ingram Micro assembles and configures branded and unbranded systems for technology resellers at its 488,000-square-foot Frameworks, Total Integration Services integration center in Memphis, Tenn. Ingram Micro has been authorized since May 1998 to custom-build Compaq PCs and servers on behalf of its reseller customers under the Compaq Channel Configuration Program (CCP). Products are built to the exact specifications of the reseller, providing a custom solution. "We are proud to be the first distributor to earn CCP certification from Compaq. Our expert technicians have achieved this certification by applying hands-on quality integration processes at our state-of-the-art integration facility. Ingram Micro's Memphis integration facility is the largest in the U.S. It is ISO-9002 certified and continues to meet Compaq's stringent guidelines for quality and efficiency.
