INGRAM MICRO EXPANDS NORTHEAST CENTER
CEO Jerre L. Stead, N.Y. Gov. George E. Pataki And Local Dignitaries Cut Ribbon On New 150,000-Square-Foot Building

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y., May 6, 1998
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today expanded its Northeast presence with the grand opening of a 150,000-square-foot office building. In addition to New York Gov. George E. Pataki, local dignitaries who joined Jerre L. Stead, Ingram Micro chairman and CEO, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Dennis Gorski, Erie County executive; Susan Grelick, town of Amherst supervisor; Lewis Rich, Empire State Development vice president/regional director; and Louis Ciminelli, New York State Power Authority trustee.

"We are very pleased to expand our operations here in the Buffalo community. Buffalo has proven to be an excellent place to do business. It offers a rich pool of talented individuals whom I am very proud to call our associates," Stead said. "The community leaders have made the Buffalo area, and Williamsville in particular, a very attractive location for our current and future growth. We are proud to be a member of this community."

The new facility, at 1740 Wehrle Drive in Williamsville, N.Y., is the third building in Ingram Micro's Northeast complex. The new building is 150,000 square feet. With this addition, the Northeast center will encompass 374,500 square feet.

Pataki said, "Ingram Micro's decision to expand in the Buffalo area, adding hundreds of new jobs at its Northeast center, is another sure sign that the Upstate New York economy has turned the corner. Ingram Micro is a world leader in technology products and services, and its optimism in New York sends a signal around the country and around the world that New York is once again the place to be for high-technology companies."

Gorski, Erie County executive, said, "This is the second time that the company has doubled in size in the past five years, and I'm proud to say that it's been done with county help each step of the way. Today's expansion is proof positive that we can compete with anyone, anywhere, when it comes to attracting and keeping large international companies here. I have said that what steel was to our community in the 20th century, computers can be in the 21st century. Ingram Micro has been a good corporate neighbor and great employer. I look forward to coming back here a few years down the road for yet another expansion ceremony."

Added town of Amherst Supervisor Grelick, "Ingram Micro made a commitment to the Amherst, Buffalo and the Western New York (WNY) regions several years ago; today they have expanded that commitment by adding new jobs to our region. WNY's partnership with Ingram Micro stands as an example to other major companies that WNY is a good place to live, work and to prosper."
