INGRAM MICRO ANNOUNCES GLOBAL ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS
GROUP
SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 16, 1998
Capitalizing on corporate resellers' increasing
demand for enterprise solutions, Ingram Micro Inc.,
the world's largest wholesale distributor of
technology products and services, today announced
the formation of its global Enterprise Solutions
Group (ESG). The organization will support
value-added resellers and systems integrators that
provide enterprise solutions to corporations around
the world.
ESG can provide VARs and SIs enterprise
solutions from multiple platforms, major operating
systems and advanced software providers. ESG
customizes these solutions with a wide range of
storage and connectivity options. Professional
services round out the offering, with Ingram
Micro's pre-configuration and sizing, technical
support and financing, as well as integration
options through Frameworks, Total Integration
Services.
Phillip D. Ellett, executive vice president of
Ingram Micro and president of Ingram Micro Europe,
will serve as the global general manager for ESG.
Mary Galvin, vice president, VAR sales, based at
the company's worldwide headquarters in Santa Ana,
Calif., has been named general manager, North
America, for ESG. Regional ESG general managers
will be added.
Said Ellett: "Our goal is to provide
best-in-class enterprise solutions on a global
basis. We are driven to delight our reseller and
vendor partners by providing a global organization
with talented professionals to help them grow their
business. We have teamed with partners around the
world that are committed to managing our enterprise
solution offering in a consistent manner. That
means our resellers can expect the same
high-quality service, breadth of product and
configuration capabilities in any region or country
where they do business with Ingram Micro."
Ingram Micro has invested in increasing the
presence of enterprise vendors in the reseller
channel. The company has built business divisions
to promote, market and sell their products. ESG
brings together under one umbrella four specialty
divisions that have serviced resellers around the
world, including:
- Open Systems Division -- Focused on Sun
Microsystems; services resellers in Denmark,
Italy, Spain and the United States
- Enterprise Computing Division -- Focused on
providing HP 9000 products to resellers in
Canada, Belgium, Denmark, France, Norway, Spain,
the United Kingdom and the United States
- Advanced Software Division -- Provides
enterprise software solutions from companies
such as The Baan Company and Computer Associates
International and provides integration of
enterprise software into UNIX servers and
workstations; currently services customers in
the United States and Canada and will soon be
expanding to other regions
- Systems Solutions Division -- Focused on the
IBM RS6000; services resellers in Belgium,
Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, The Netherlands,
Spain and the United Kingdom
Galvin said, "Geographic regions are
disappearing as resellers and their customers
around the world need a solid, reliable partner to
help deliver global solutions. On the enterprise
level, size and quality matter most. Because Ingram
Micro is the largest wholesale distributor of
technology in the world, our resellers can depend
on us to deliver consistent, dependable,
high-quality solutions for any enterprise. We are
committed to listening to our customers' needs and
requirements and responding with world-class
solutions. Resellers then can spend more time
consulting on and installing solutions, which
brings them higher margin."

our business in new markets."

which made Ingram Micro a Sun-authorized master
reseller. In April this year, Ingram Micro agreed
