INGRAM MICRO RECEIVES AUTHORIZATION TO CONFIGURE BAAN SOFTWARE ON COMPAQ AND HP SYSTEMS
The company also debuts Path to Profits program for resellers.

SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 31, 1998
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today announced that it received authorization from the Baan Company to pre-configure Baan software on Compaq Computer and Hewlett-Packard computer systems throughout North America.

Earlier this year, Baan authorized the distributor to pre-configure Baan software onto Sun Microsystems hardware. The expanded Baan authorization enables Ingram Micro to help a broader range of resellers implement enterprise software by providing pre-configured and pre-tested solutions.

"In April, we formed a strategic partnership with Baan to bring enterprise software solutions to the market through our resellers," said Mary Galvin, vice president of VAR sales for Ingram Micro. "The authorization to configure Baan software on systems from industry-leading vendors like Compaq and HP allows us to service our reseller customers even better, by providing them with a more broad-based solution."

Baan software is distributed through Ingram Micro's Advanced Software Division (ASD), which was launched this year. The ASD provides resellers with the sales, business development, configuration and technical support they need to sell and install software applications to the small- and midsize-enterprise market. The ASD is committed to working with resellers to enable them to be successful in the enterprise market.

Ingram Micro currently offers channel assembly and configuration through Frameworks, Total Integration Services. The distributor assembles Compaq and HP systems at its half-million-square-foot Memphis, Tenn., facility. Ingram Micro's added capability of pre-configuring Baan enterprise resource planning software onto Microsoft NT-compatible systems is a value-add for these systems vendors.

New Path To Profits Program For Resellers
Concurrent with the expanded authorization from Baan, Ingram Micro's Advanced Software Division has launched Path to Profits, an innovative program that assists resellers in growing their business. Path to Profits is designed to help Baan resellers with resource acquisition and training; marketing and business development; and sales and implementation activities.
