INGRAM MICRO'S TELECOM INTEGRATION DIVISION ADDS MOD-TAP, PRESTOLITE TO STRUCTURED WIRING PRODUCT OFFERING

SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 3, 1998
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today announced that its Telecom Integration Division has signed two new distribution agreements with Harvard, Mass.-based MOD-TAP and Southfield, Mich.-based Prestolite Wire Corp. The agreements secure the company's position in the structured wiring arena, allowing its resellers to provide the networking cabling and connectivity needed to enable high-performance data and voice transmission.

"In early March, we entered the structured wiring arena. At this point, we are thrilled to expand our offering by partnering with MOD-TAP and Prestolite," said Laura Skinner, vice president and general manager of Ingram Micro's Telecom Integration Division. "Wiring is the backbone of any voice/data solution, and we look forward to continuing to offer VARs and interconnects the missing piece they need to complete the computer telephony integration (CTI) puzzle."

Skinner continued: "The issue of connectivity represents an incremental business opportunity for our resellers. Many times, after selling their end user a full complement of hardware, software and CTI tools, resellers often outsource the wiring of the job. Now, resellers can purchase wire, cabling, connectors and modular hardware at Ingram Micro, the same place they turn to for CTI solutions. This further demonstrates Ingram Micro's commitment to becoming a one-stop shop for CTI solutions."

Ingram Micro resellers can now choose from a broad selection of structured wiring system solutions, from high-performance data cables to high-quality connectivity products, like information outlets, patch panels, distribution frames, etc. Ingram Micro now offers reseller customers end-to-end system solutions for a wide range of applications.

"We are excited to partner with Ingram Micro to bring our full line of solutions to the reseller channel. With the convergence of voice and data, the Ingram Micro-MOD-TAP alliance will complement our business and provide an expanded communications solution to a broader range of users," said Tom Nichols, channels marketing manager for MOD-TAP.

"Prestolite's partnership with Ingram Micro will add tremendous value for resellers," said Preston Speers, vice president and general manager of Prestolite Wire Corp. "Now, it will be easier for Ingram Micro's VARs and interconnects to fulfill their customers' structured wiring needs and provide a higher level of service. This partnership will help Prestolite penetrate the reseller channel."
