INGRAM MICRO ANNOUNCES GROUNDBREAKING OF NORTHEAST DISTRIBUTION CENTER Technology Distributor To Build 600,000-Square-Foot Facility With Expansion Potential Of Up To 1 Million Square FeetSANTA ANA, Calif. and HARRISBURG, Penn., July 14, 1998 Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today announced its plans to build a 600,000-square-foot Northeast distribution center in Lickdale, Penn., which is approximately 18 miles from Harrisburg. Construction of the new center, which has the potential to be expanded to more than 1 million square feet, is scheduled to begin Oct. 1, 1998. The building will be located on a 100-acre site. Ingram Micro has contracted with High Construction Inc., of Lancaster, Penn., to build the facility. The company expects to occupy the new center by late 1999. At that time, the current 230,000-square-foot facility in Harrisburg, Penn., will be relocated to the new center. In addition to Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, more than 100 associates, dignitaries and Ingram Micro executives are scheduled to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, July 14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. "When we decided to expand our company's operations, we looked at all of our options, including locations in other states," said Sanat Dutta, executive vice president, Ingram Micro Inc., and president, Ingram Micro U.S. "But our current workforce in central Pennsylvania and Gov. Ridge's commitment to helping companies grow and create jobs made Pennsylvania an obvious choice. Gov. Other Recent Ingram Micro Expansion EffortsIn June, the company announced plans to construct one of the largest and most technologically advanced distribution centers in Europe. The center will be 500,000 square feet and will serve The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
