INGRAM MICRO ANNOUNCES
RETIREMENT OF JOHN WM. WINKELHAUS II
Executive Vice President Of Global Channel
Assembly To Leave Company Dec. 31
SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 23, 1997
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale
distributor of technology products and services,
announced today the retirement of executive vice
president John Wm. Winkelhaus II, 47, effective
Dec. 31. Winkelhaus most recently served as
executive vice president of global channel
assembly. Prior to that, he was president of Ingram
Micro Europe.
"John has been one of our key management
executives for nearly 15 years," said Jeffrey R.
Rodek, worldwide president and COO. "His
contributions are many and include having built the
company's U.S. sales force during the 1980s and
leading Ingram Micro's entry into Europe during the
1990s. Under John's leadership, Ingram Micro
assumed a significant market position throughout
Europe. We will miss his leadership."
Ed Pensel, senior vice president of global
configuration operations, will take over full
responsibility for Winkelhaus' position.
During his 15-year tenure with the company,
Winkelhaus held a number of strategic management
positions, including president of Ingram Micro
Europe, senior vice president of operations Europe
and U.S., as well as senior vice president of
sales. He was voted European executive of the year
at the EuroChannels 1995 conference and led Ingram
Micro to be recognized by IBM as the 1996
Pan-European distributor of the year. In October,
Winkelhaus received the award for the most
outstanding European leader at the EuroChannels
conference.
