INGRAM MICRO HOSTING FIRST-EVER RESELLER SEMINAR ON VALUE-ADDED SERVICES
Company Will Address New Services Strategy And Offering

SANTA ANA, Calif., Sept. 29, 1997
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, is helping resellers take advantage of the growing services market by hosting an educational seminar this week in Southern California. The seminar is part of a bigger investment Ingram Micro is making to expand and diversify its services line-up.

Services that Sell is an all-day event and will take place on Thursday, Oct. 2 in Newport Beach, Calif., at the Four Seasons Hotel, 690 Newport Center Drive. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., the seminar runs from 8:15 a.m. - 5 p.m., with dinner following from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Resellers will garner valuable information from several industry speakers. Randy Jones, vice president of services for Ingram Micro, will present an overview of the company's new services strategy and offerings, as well as address the growing opportunity for resellers that sell services. Traci Bair, director of support and operational services research for International Data Corporation, will address service industry trends. Presentations will also be given by Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Lucent Technologies, Wave Technologies and Xerox Technology Services.

Said Jones, "We are working to enhance our resellers' offerings far beyond the product level. The Services that Sell seminar addresses this goal, and helps us educate resellers on how easy it is to add services to almost any sale.

"Ingram Micro has designed a wide range of services to meet the needs of its resellers. We offer the widest breadth of services, with a lineup that includes the National Service Network (NSN) and the Ingram Systems Group (ISG) reseller programs, IT training, as well as custom and packaged solutions. This is evidence of our commitment to supporting our service resellers."

Jones joined the company in the newly created position in July after Ingram Micro acquired Intelligent Electronics' Reseller Network Division, where he served as vice president of sales, with responsibility over NSN and ISG. His appointment has been key in the success of the integration of NSN and ISG into Ingram Micro's services area.

"This is a great chance to meet with our customers in an open, casual setting. I look forward to sharing our strategy with our customers and gaining their insight. This will be valuable as we expand our services offering," Jones added.

New Services Strategy and Offering
Ingram Micro offers a one-stop shop for resellers that sell services. In recent months, Ingram Micro has significantly expanded its service offering with the addition of NSN and ISG.

Resellers can take advantage of custom configuration through Ingram Micro's Frameworks Total Integration Services. Resellers can also turn to Ingram Micro for classroom and self-paced IT training, certification, help desk, warranty upgrades, hardware and software maintenance, networking support and installation -- which they resell to their end-user customers. Ingram Micro offers both custom and packaged service solutions from more than 30 vendors, as well as the NSN and ISG service networks.

NSN is a group of more than 250 independent resellers that offer service programs for regional and national customers. NSN resellers work together to extend their service capabilities globally. Members are selected based on service authorizations and geographic location. The selection process ensures that NSN members complement each others' capabilities. Here's how it works: When an end user calls for service, an NSN call center matches the request with the most qualified member. For domestic and international requests, NSN calls on third-party service providers.

ISG is a sales and service organization of more than 30 independent resellers that focuses on Fortune 1000 corporations. ISG members also belong to NSN. By working together, ISG members provide products, consulting, design, engineering, installation and maintenance services to major accounts worldwide. ISG resellers are required to have Internetworking Services Practice Certifications (for systems engineering), sales authorizations and National Service Network Authorizations (for field engineering). They undergo an initial and annual financial review, and pay yearly membership dues.

Ingram Micro plans to increase the number of members in both NSN and ISG.
