INGRAM MICRO NAMES SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, GLOBAL CONFIGURATION

SANTA ANA, Calif., Sept. 15, 1997
Ingram Micro Inc. announced today that effective October 1, 1997, Edward F. Pensel, 44, will join the company as senior vice president, global configuration operations. He will be based at the company's worldwide headquarters in Santa Ana, Calif. and will report to Jeffrey R. Rodek, president and worldwide chief operating officer.

"We are extremely pleased that Ed has joined our global executive team," Rodek said. "Channel assembly and configuration services are key initiatives for our company, and the foundation of our Frameworks Total Integration Services' offering for build-to-order. Ed's accomplishments in this area are widely recognized, and his experience will be invaluable."

Pensel will be responsible for the development of world-class light manufacturing facilities throughout the world. He will work closely with John W. Winkelhaus II, executive vice president, global channel assembly, to enable the enterprise to utilize these facilities. Winkelhaus' specific focus is on the development of customer and supplier programs and associated internal process and systems.

Pensel brings more than 23 years of high-technology international management experience. He most recently spent seven years at Data General Corporation based in Westborough, Mass. For the past four years, Pensel served as vice president, worldwide manufacturing operations, where he was responsible for managing domestic and international manufacturing operations, and establishing standards for product quality, cost and delivery.

Additionally, Pensel was responsible for founding Data General's OEM contract manufacturing division, VALiiANT. From 1990-1993, he held the position of director, worldwide materials, procurement and systems integration.

Prior to that, Pensel was director, worldwide procurement for Chelmsford, Mass.-based Apollo Computer, Inc., and also spent 10 years serving in various management positions at Northern Telecom, Inc.

Pensel holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston.
