INGRAM MICRO TO DISTRIBUTE LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES' NETCARE SERVICESSANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 11, 1997 Ingram Micro will package NetCare's services -- from installation support through ongoing monitoring and management of wide-area network equipment -- for distribution to resellers whose customers need expert assistance with multimanufacturer networks. NetCare Services, which has a corps of 1,100 consultants, engineers and technicians experienced in building and managing multimanufacturer data networks, will be Ingram Micro's preferred provider of network support services for wide area data networks. Previously Lucent sold NetCare services principally through its direct sales force. "This agreement adds an important channel for the sales of NetCare data network support services," said Jeff Akers, president of NetCare Services. "By making our NetCare services available through Ingram Micro's extensive network of resellers, we will be able to extend the reach of our services to businesses we do not serve today. We came to Ingram Micro because they can establish highly targeted marketing and sales programs to get our products to resellers and penetrate new markets." Today, NetCare has more than 5,000 customers. According to Randy Jones, vice president of services for Ingram Micro: "In today's market, technology resellers must offer services to compete, yet not all of them are positioned to do so cost effectively. The addition of NetCare Services to Ingram Micro's wide range of data products and services gives our technology resellers the ability to sell and install more complex data networking solutions. It also allows our resellers to team with Ingram Micro and NetCare Services to reach larger, national customers that require the kind of multimanufacturer support offered by NetCare." Ingram Micro will offer a set of four standard NetCare service packages at pre-determined prices, for network installation, integration, configuration assistance and on-site maintenance of wide area networks. It also will offer custom packages for staging, project management and network management, with service delivery and price depending on work requirements. Services will be delivered out of NetCare's Data Maintenance Operations Control Center in Largo, Fla. This agreement with Lucent Technologies reflects Ingram Micro's commitment to providing its clients with value-added services.
