INGRAM MICRO ADDS POWERFUL ELECTRONIC COMMERCE TOOLS TO ITS WEB SITE

SANTA ANA, Calif., May 5, 1997
Ingram Micro Inc. announced today it has added powerful electronic business tools to its Web site, www.ingrammicro.com, which was engineered in response to customer requests for effective and efficient electronic services. The new Web site, entitled "Reseller Business Center," features real-time ordering and order status, as well as order tracking with seamless links to Federal Express and UPS, and powerful custom-search tools.

"Since January, our Web site has experienced a 75 percent growth in traffic, culminating in 2.8 million queries in March," said Fadi Chehade, vice president of Ingram Micro's Customer Information Services division. He continued, "This is a powerful example of how critical this business tool has become to our customers. The new Reseller Business Center empowers our resellers to make better product recommendations for their customers, while shortening the sales cycle and allowing them to deliver more effective pre- and post-sales support."

Online Ordering
Ingram Micro's online ordering business tool provides resellers with the latest competitive information right at their fingertips. Resellers can search for product information from more than 1,100 manufacturers and 36,000 inventoried products -- then comparison shop among the competing product lines listed and quickly compile an electronic order list, define bill-to, ship-to, drop ship and split shipment information. In addition, resellers can select a specific warehouse and shipping carrier, including UPS and Federal Express, and conduct business beyond Ingram Micro's normal operating hours.

Order Status
After placing an order, resellers can check its real-time status through the shipping and billing cycles. Order status displays invoiced orders with carrier specific information, including tracking numbers and date of delivery. With order status, resellers have the ability to confirm placed orders instantly -- including those orders not placed through Ingram Micro's Web site.

Enhanced Search Capabilities
The Reseller Business Center also features improved search engines that help resellers find the information they need quickly. These intuitive applications offer real-time price and availability information, as well as access to information on Ingram Micro's inventory, and resellers can easily order online the products they look up.

Resellers can now search the site four ways:

Basic search -- Resellers enter an Ingram Micro SKU (stock keeping unit), manufacturer part number, manufacturer names; or enter free-form keywords

Guided search -- Logical prompting fields and menu screens guide users through searches by manufacturer name, media (such as CD-ROM) or platform (such as Macintosh, PC or UNIX)

Power search -- For more advanced queries, resellers can enter specific criteria to select products by price, manufacturer, category, subcategory, media or platform

Solutions search -- Search for products that will provide a complete business solution for Macintosh, computer telephony integration, memory and supplies.

TechNotes
Ingram Micro's more than 25,000 TechNotes provide instant access to detailed products specifications and sales materials from 1,100 manufacturers. Through this business tool, resellers are empowered to make accurate purchasing decisions and are able to provide their customers with information on the latest products and technology available.

In-depth Library
Ingram Micro's unique In-depth Library allows resellers to quickly and easily locate product data sheets, presentations, technical white papers and user guides in a centralized location. Chehade said, "When combined with real-time customized price, availability, ordering and order status, the In-depth Library offers the most current and accurate product information available in the industry."
