INGRAM MICRO ANNOUNCES FIRST FACE-TO-FACE ROUNDTABLE FOR EDUCATION VENDORS AND CAMPUS RESELLERS
Ingram Micro Also Introduces Allocation Advantage Forecasting Program

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 17, 1997
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, announced today Face-to-Face, the first annual reseller roundtable and product fair designed to bring together leading hardware and software manufacturers and the top campus resellers in the education market. The event features 25 of the industry's leading hardware and software manufacturers, including Adobe, Corel, IBM, Microsoft, UMAX and U.S. Robotics. Face-to-Face is open to all Ingram Micro campus resellers and will be held April 18-20, at the Hotel Inter-Continental in New Orleans.

Ingram Micro created the Face-to-Face roundtable and product fair to assist its vendors and campus resellers in creating successful back-to-school sales strategies. It is the only event of its kind that provides vendors and campus resellers with an opportunity to exchange ideas, communicate trends, discuss issues and opportunities, and hear about the latest products and technologies designed for the education market.

"Face-to-Face is an example of our commitment to continuously improve our programs and product offerings for our education resellers," said Jane Kelly, director of the Education Division of Ingram Micro. "Our goal for this event is to provide a venue for our vendor and reseller customers to build relationships, exchange ideas and strategize successful sales programs for the crucial back-to-school selling season."

Allocation Advantage Program
In conjunction with Face-to-Face, the company also announced Allocation Advantage, a forecasting/delivery program that assists campus resellers in obtaining product during strategic selling periods. The program is designed to give resellers and vendors an edge in the education marketplace.

Allocation Advantage allows Ingram Micro's valued campus resellers to have access to constrained product by having direct, quantifiable input into the manufacturers' CPU build plans. Campus resellers will forecast CPUs in one-month increments, on a 90-day roll out. Ingram Micro will then consolidate these forecasts and provide them to the participating manufacturers. The program will help increase product availability throughout the school year; especially during the critical back-to-school season when products are in high-demand.

"Allocation Advantage provides campus resellers with a voice among the world's top CPU manufacturers," added Kelly. "It is our goal, through this program, to assist our campus resellers in meeting the needs of their market at all times in the buying cycle. We are committed to providing the necessary resources to implement the program with the participating manufacturers."
