INGRAM MICRO NAMES NEW DIRECTOR, GOVERNMENT INTEGRATOR SALES

SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 4, 1996
Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale distributor of technology products and services, announced today it has named Jay Lambke to the newly created position of director, government integrator sales.

Lambke, 31, is responsible for managing all sales functions related to Ingram Micro's government business, which focuses on systems integrators in the federal, state, local and Government Services Administration Schedule (GSA) markets. As director, Lambke supervises a team of government sales representatives across the country. He also co-manages the company's government business with Curtis L. Cornell, director of Ingram Micro's government division.

Lambke will be located in Washington, D.C. and reports to Greg Hawkins, senior vice president of sales.

Said Hawkins: "We are pleased to bring Jay to Ingram Micro's government division. His experience in wholesale computer distribution sales and his first-hand knowledge of the government market make him uniquely qualified to head up our government sales force. We are taking the government market very seriously and Jay is a great asset to the division."

Lambke joins Ingram Micro from Symmetrical Technologies, Herndon, Va., where he served as southeast regional sales director. At Symmetrical, a start-up computer storage manufacturer, he developed end-user, reseller and distribution channels.

Before that, Lambke held two sales positions at Tech Data Corporation, where he worked for five years. From 1992 to 1995, he served as government territory manager based in Leesburg, Va. In this role, he developed the company's government business strategy, increasing government sales six times over. From 1990 to 1992, Lambke served as a sales representative, based in Clearwater, Fla., and targeted value-added resellers (VARs), systems integrators and resellers.

Ingram Micro's government division offers a wide range of services to resellers who bid and sell computer technology to the government industry. The company provides turnkey support to resellers through an array of offerings, including proposal preparation, bid specifications and assistance with government certification.

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., posted 1995 sales of $8.62 billion. Worldwide sales for the first three quarters of 1996 totaled $8.47 billion. The company operates in 19 countries and distributes more than 36,000 products to over 100,000 resellers in 120 countries.
