INGRAM MICRO INTRODUCES INTERNET-BASED ORDER STATUS SERVICE FOR CUSTOMERS
Demonstrations Available At Ingram Micro Booth At Fall Comdex

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 18, 1996
Ingram Micro Inc. announced today a new Internet-based order status service, which is expected to be available to Ingram Micro customers next month.

The new service allows customers to check the status of orders electronically via Ingram Micro's Internet site at www.ingrammicro.com. Order Status is the latest addition to the company's electronic services available on the Internet and complements Ingram Micro's Internet-based Electronic Catalog and In-depth Library. Together, these tools empower resellers to access real-time product information, pricing, warehouse availability and order status on 36,000 products from more than 1,100 manufacturers.

Said Doug Antone, president of Ingram Alliance Reseller Company, and senior vice president of Ingram Micro: "Our strategy has been to seek out and listen to the needs of our customers, and give them the solutions they want and need to do business more efficiently. This new Internet service is a valuable tool for customers who need fast, easy access to the status of their orders."

Here is how it works: To access Order Status, Ingram Micro customers register online for a password. The password, along with their Ingram Micro customer ID number, allows them to look up their order through the company's Web site. They can determine origin and date of shipment, waybill number, backorder status and recipient name and address.

The same password resellers use to access Order Status can also be used to access the Internet-based Electronic Catalog and In-depth Library.

Ingram Micro resellers are looking forward to putting Order Status to work. "The Order Status option will allow me to save time usually spent with sales representatives on the phone. Plus, it allows me to access order information after regular business hours -- no other distributor offers service like that," said Michael Spivak, president of MacUniverse. "In our business, time is money. It's clear Ingram Micro understands this, because they are providing resellers like MacUniverse valuable tools to operate and conduct business more efficiently."

Added Fadi Chehade, Ingram Micro's vice president of Customer Information Systems: "Now, Order Status, combined with real-time pricing and availability, provides customers answers to their most frequently asked questions -- conveniently via the Internet."

From Nov. 18-22, visit the Ingram Micro Comdex booth (#L4416), located right off the main entrance in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, to experience:

Surf Ingram Micro's Web site to experience Order Status, the Electronic Catalog and the In-depth Library. Ingram Micro resellers can register for a password for Web site access.

www.ingrammicro.com: Your Business Center, a presentation illustrating the business tools available on Ingram Micro's Web site. Shows Monday-Friday at 11 a.m.

Comdex attendees can also stop by Ingram Micro's hospitality suite at the MGM Grand Hotel to sign up for vendor demonstrations of the Electronic Catalog and In-depth Library.
