INGRAM MICRO'S TELECOM INTEGRATION DIVISION ADDS SIEMENS BUSINESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS TO ITS ROSTERSANTA ANA and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 23,
1996 "We are excited about our distribution agreement with Siemens Communications," said Laura Skinner, vice president and general manager of Ingram Micro's Telecom Integration Division. "Ingram Micro is known for supporting a large network of value-added resellers with the latest products, value-added services and technical support. Siemens Communications' OfficePoint system enables us to provide VARs in the computer-telephony arena with an excellent high-speed communications tool." The OfficePoint system lets the increasingly large number of remote and small offices take advantage of ISDN's ability to deliver significant bandwidth -- up to 128 Kilobits per second -- to a desktop at affordable prices. High bandwidth is essential for users who require frequent, high-speed access to information located on the Internet or corporate databases. In addition, OfficePoint determines bandwidth based on the kinds of calls taking place, and transports data five to ten times faster than analog devices (modems). "Value-added resellers are an integral part of today's market," said John Ahearn, senior director, channel sales and operations, Siemens Communications. "We're very excited about having access to Ingram Micro's extensive distribution channel of VARs." Siemens Business Communication Systems, Inc., based in Santa Clara, Calif., is the North American arm of Siemens Private Communications Systems, the world leader in private telecommunications systems with annual sales of nearly $5 billion, more than 500,000 customers and one million systems installed worldwide.
