INGRAM MICRO'S TELECOM INTEGRATION DIVISION ADDS SIEMENS BUSINESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS TO ITS ROSTER

SANTA ANA and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 23, 1996
Ingram Micro Inc. and Siemens Business Communication Systems Inc. announced today a reseller distribution agreement under which Ingram Micro's Telecom Integration Division will distribute Siemens Communications' OfficePoint system to value-added resellers (VARs) throughout the United States and Canada. OfficePoint is the only Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) system designed for small offices.

"We are excited about our distribution agreement with Siemens Communications," said Laura Skinner, vice president and general manager of Ingram Micro's Telecom Integration Division. "Ingram Micro is known for supporting a large network of value-added resellers with the latest products, value-added services and technical support. Siemens Communications' OfficePoint system enables us to provide VARs in the computer-telephony arena with an excellent high-speed communications tool."

The OfficePoint system lets the increasingly large number of remote and small offices take advantage of ISDN's ability to deliver significant bandwidth -- up to 128 Kilobits per second -- to a desktop at affordable prices. High bandwidth is essential for users who require frequent, high-speed access to information located on the Internet or corporate databases. In addition, OfficePoint determines bandwidth based on the kinds of calls taking place, and transports data five to ten times faster than analog devices (modems).

"Value-added resellers are an integral part of today's market," said John Ahearn, senior director, channel sales and operations, Siemens Communications. "We're very excited about having access to Ingram Micro's extensive distribution channel of VARs."

Siemens Business Communication Systems, Inc., based in Santa Clara, Calif., is the North American arm of Siemens Private Communications Systems, the world leader in private telecommunications systems with annual sales of nearly $5 billion, more than 500,000 customers and one million systems installed worldwide.

Siemens Private Communications Systems has approximately 23,900 employees worldwide, of which approximately 5,900 are at Siemens Communications. Revenues from telecommunications and networking accounted for more than 20 percent of Siemens AG's worldwide sales of $61.6 billion in fiscal year 1994/1995.

Last month Ingram Micro signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Scottsdale, Arizona-based Vodavi Technology Inc., to distribute its complete line of digital business communications hardware and software products. Just last week, Ingram Micro ventured into a distribution agreement with Artisoft Inc. and Dialogic Corporation to distribute computer telephony solutions designed for small and medium-sized businesses.

Ingram Micro Inc., headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., is the world's largest wholesale distributor of technology products and services, with 1995 sales of $8.617 billion. Worldwide sales for the first two quarters of 1996 total $5.543 billion. The company operates in 19 countries and distributes more than 36,000 products to over 100,000 resellers in 120 countries.
