Finley joined Ingram Micro from Budget Rent-A-Car, where he was senior vice president of human resources, and a member of the executive committee responsible for corporate strategy and policy. Prior to that, Finley worked for 18 years for The Southland Corporation, once an international retail, manufacturing and distribution organization with 75,000 employees and 8,100 7-Eleven stores. He served as vice president of human resources from 1987 to 1995, and was responsible for all aspects of personnel administration, compensation and benefits, as well as training and organizational development. From 1973 to 1977, Finley was a consulting organizational psychologist for Lifson, Wilson, Ferguson & Winick, Inc. of Houston, Texas. He provided consulting services to public and private companies that ranged from manufacturing and retailing, to government, utilities, banking and communications. Finley holds a doctorate in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Houston, and received a masters of arts degree in the same field from Middle Tennessee State University. He earned his undergraduate degree in psychology and business management from the University of North Texas. He is a licensed psychologist, a member of the American Psychological Association, and a past member of the National Society for Training and Development. In addition, he has been on the editorial review board of the Academy of Management Journal, entitled The Executive. He was a board member of SER -- Jobs for Progress; the University of Texas at Pan American; and the Greater Dallas Boys and Girls Clubs.
