INGRAM MICRO VOTED PREFERRED DISTRIBUTOR FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Ingram Micro Inc. announced today that a random survey conducted among 12,000 subscribers of Computer Reseller News, the industry's premier trade publication, voted Ingram Micro the most preferred distributor for 1996. Additionally, for the first time, Ingram Micro swept the top performance category, making it not only the most preferred, but also the top performing distributor of microcomputer products in the United States.

Computer resellers were asked to rate their preferred distributors from the following six product categories: computer systems, software, mass storage devices, networking products, peripherals, and emerging technology products. In addition, resellers also measured distributors' performance across 11 criteria in the same six product categories. Of the more than 250 distributors in the United States, Ingram Micro was the top performer in each product category.

Eight in 10 resellers judged product availability as the most important criteria, followed by delivery (accuracy), price, return policies, and access to sales representatives. Among the value-added services offered by distributors, technical support remained the most sought after service.

Computer Reseller News is the leading computer reseller publication in the United States with more than 103,000 subscribers. The magazine's 12th annual "Preferred Distributor" study was conducted between January and March of this year.
