INGRAM MICRO PROMOTES JOHN WINKELHAUS TO PRESIDENT, INGRAM MICRO EUROPESANTA ANA, Calif., June 10, 1996 "John has led our strong European management team in building Ingram Micro Europe into one of the fastest growing and largest wholesalers in Europe," said Jeff Rodek, president and chief operating officer. "Through his guidance, Ingram Micro's operations have grown significantly, and more importantly, the base has been built for greater market penetration in the future." Prior to his promotion, Winkelhaus served as senior vice president, Europe, a position he has held since 1992. During his tenure, Ingram Micro Europe has experienced a 94 percent compounded growth rate, exceeding over $1.84 billion in European sales in 1995. He has also lead the company through nine acquisitions. Additionally, Winkelhaus was recently voted "European Executive of the Year" at IBM's EuroChannels 1995 conference in Paris. This award recognizes one individual for extraordinary efforts in setting strategic precedent and breaking new ground in the European and global reseller channel. Winkelhaus joined Micro D (Ingram Micro's predecessor) in 1983 and has held a number of senior management and senior sales management positions with the company, including Senior Vice President Europe; Senior Vice President of Sales; Vice President of Sales Services, and several other management posts. Winkelhaus received a bachelor's of science degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan. He operates out of the company's offices in Brussels, Belgium.
