INGRAM MICRO INCREASES SALES 46 PERCENTSANTA ANA, Calif., June 10, 1996 "Ingram Alliance and Ingram Micro Canada were the brightest stars in our first quarter, " said Jeff Rodek, worldwide president and chief operating officer. "Also, we continued enhancement of our information systems by installing the world's fastest mainframe computer." Commenting on Ingram Micro's domestic operations, Rodek said, "During this first quarter, we began construction of a 300,000-square-foot distribution center in Millington, Tenn., which will be our ninth and largest facility. Earlier this year we moved into a new 278,000-square-foot warehouse in Fullerton, Calif., which will allow us to expand our product capacity and consolidate regional distribution operations." In the first quarter, Ingram Alliance continued strong growth in revenues and reseller signings, adding 203 new affiliates for a total of 711. "The combination of consistent execution, strong inventory positions, effective reseller programs and Ingram Alliance's continuing commitment not to compete with our reseller partners, led to this very strong performance," said David R. Dukes, Ingram Micro co-chairman and CEO of Ingram Alliance. Ingram Micro's European operations experienced satisfactory growth during the first quarter, despite difficult market conditions in Germany, France and the United Kingdom. "The growth in this region is due largely to the signing of several important customer agreements in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France and The Netherlands," said John Winkelhaus, president of Ingram Micro Europe. "We also formed a partnership with Olivetti to distribute its full range of personal computers." The company continued to solidify its number-one position in Canada through its successful implementation of new programs and expanded field sales coverage. "The continued stability of the peso contributed to growth in sales for Ingram Dicom, Ingram Micro's affiliate in Mexico," said David Rutledge, senior vice president of Asia Pacific, Latin America and export markets. "Additionally, we added several key sales, marketing and financial positions to further strengthen the management team."
