Chairman And Chief Executive Officer

Kent B. Foster is chairman and chief executive officer of Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services. He is responsible for executing the vision of Ingram Micro to become the leading service provider of supply chain management solutions and technology procurement, leveraging the company's worldwide infrastructure to support its rapid growth.

Foster was named chairman in May 2000, having joined the company as chief executive officer and president in March of the same year. Under Foster's direction, Ingram Micro quickly improved its market position and increased profit margins, demonstrating the company's ongoing commitment to transform the technology distribution industry to encourage growth and greater opportunity. Foster is focused on driving continuous improvements for the company around the world and increasing shareowner value through building profitable growth opportunities for 2001.

He joined Ingram Micro after a 29-year career at GTE Corporation, a leading telecommunications company with one of the industry's broadest arrays of products and services now known as Verizon Communications after a merger with Atlantic Bell. From 1995 through 1999, Foster served as president, GTE Corporation.

Prior to his career with GTE, Foster served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, achieving the rank of captain. He received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and a master's degree in management from the University of Southern California.

Foster currently serves on the boards of directors of Campbell Soup Co., J.C. Penney Co., Inc., New York Life Insurance Company, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Opera.
