INGRAM MICRO CIO TO ASSUME EXPANDED ROLE AS CTO RETIRES FROM COMPANY

SANTA ANA, Calif., June 15, 1999

Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest provider of technology products and services to resellers and vendors, today announced that its chief information officer will assume the added responsibility of leading its worldwide information-technology initiatives as its chief technology officer retires from the company.

Richard J. Kish, senior vice president, Ingram Micro and CIO, now leads Ingram Micro's worldwide IT department and the company's IT infrastructure and systems development. He will retain accountability for defining and further developing Ingram Micro's business applications and electronic-commerce solutions as co-chair with Ingram Micro Worldwide Marketing Vice President Guy Abramo of the eSolutions Group. This strategic business unit provides resellers and vendor partners with the latest suite of electronic business applications to compete successfully in the marketplace. Kish joined the company in December 1997 from Barnes and Noble Inc., where he served as vice president and CIO and launched the company's highly successful e-commerce Web site.

David M. Carlson, senior vice president, Ingram Micro and CTO, has retired from an active management role in the company. Carlson joined Ingram Micro in February 1997.

Jerre L. Stead, Ingram Micro chairman and chief executive officer said, "Dave did an excellent job integrating our core business system, IMpulse, to many of our new Ingram Micro locations and developing the many new systems we use today."

Stead added, "One of our most important competitive assets is IMpulse, the unified system we use worldwide to drive business connections with our customers and vendor partners. Rick will head our ongoing efforts of global systems leadership."
