Ingram Micro Strengthens Executive Team With Appointment Of Alain Monie´

Successful general manager with 28 years of international experience joins the world's IT distribution leader as executive vice president

SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 15, 2003 -- Alain Monie´, a corporate executive with 28 years of experience leading international operations, has been appointed executive vice president of Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the company announced today. He reports to Michael J. Grainger, president and chief operating officer.

"We are fortunate to complement our executive team with Alain's talent and breadth of international experience," said Grainger. "He has played a leading role in building successful organizations throughout the world. Fluent in three languages, he can work easily with a variety of cultures and business models. He will spend the next several months becoming familiar with Ingram Micro operations throughout the world, and become president of our Asia-Pacific region by the end of the year. Hans Koppen, who has done an outstanding job in leading that region over the last three years, will receive a new assignment within the company at that time."

Monie´, 52, most recently was president of the Latin American division of Honeywell International for nearly three years, responsible for all countries from Mexico to Chile and the Caribbean. He joined Honeywell following the merger with Allied Signal Inc., where he built a 17-year career on three continents, progressing from a regional sales manager to head of Asia-Pacific operations. He spent 12 years in Asia, leading Allied Signal's expansion into China and enhancing its presence in India. He also has held general management positions with Sogitec Inc., a French aerospace simulation corporation, and was a controller for Renault, a French automotive firm. His career began in Mexico City, where he was in the military as a civil construction engineer.

"Ingram Micro is an ideal career opportunity," said Monie´. "The company has done an impressive job in improving processes and managing the economic downturn, and now is well prepared to take advantage of any resurgence of technology spending. It is the only global IT distributor to invest in Asia, a promising growth market. I'm looking forward to bringing my international and management background to such a vibrant company."
