Ingram Micro Names Canada General Manager

Company Appoints Murray Wright, Vice President Of Sales, As Canada General Manager Within The North America Region; Rounds Out Executive Team Leadership For Canada

SANTA ANA, Calif., May 14, 2002 - Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the largest wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services, today appointed Murray Wright to vice president, sales, and general manager, overseeing Ingram Micro's Canadian business unit within the North America region effective immediately. In his expanded role, Wright will take on general management responsibility in addition to his responsibility for Canada's sales organization, including the Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver call centers, field sales force, business operations and customer service functions. He reports to Pat Collins, senior vice president sales, Ingram Micro North America.

Net sales were $5.62 billion versus $7.19 billion in the first quarter of last year, a decline of 22 percent, with net income of $13.5 million or $0.09 per share (before reorganization costs, gain on the sale of securities and the cumulative effect of the adoption of a new accounting standard).

"Murray has the experience and ability to blend customer needs with the requirements of running a successful business unit," said Collins. "Maintaining face-to-face relationships with our customers in their own backyard is critical for our North America regional structure, and this move ensures we continue to address the specific needs of our customers in Canada."

The integration of Ingram Micro's U.S. and Canada regions has progressed since it began in January. The credit, operations and IM-Logistics functions now operate on a North America basis, and the integration of best practices, processes and systems within other functions including product management, marketing and finance is currently underway.

Wright's appointment to general manager supports the company's overall plan to have strong executive leadership in the United States and Canada. In addition to Wright, other leaders in Canada working directly with customers and vendors include Peter Chung, vice president finance; Martin Kalsbeek, vice president operations; Michael Gazdic, vice president vendor management; and Dave Walsh, vice president marketing.

"Our goal is to join the best of Canada with the best of the U.S. for an even more powerful North America region, and this important step supports that plan," said Kevin Murai, president, Ingram Micro North America. "We are pleased with the efficiencies and best practices shared between the two countries and believe that this successful integration has created solid results, delivering greater satisfaction among our customers and vendors."

Wright joined Ingram Micro Canada in December of 1997 with more than 17 years of experience in sales and general management, distribution and customer relations. He earned a bachelor's degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, and completed the Executive Program at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
