Thomas A. Madden serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Ingram Micro Inc. As CFO, Madden directs Ingram Micro's global financial operations, supervising the company's worldwide treasury and finance and accounting departments, as well as regional finance activities. He reports to Kent B. Foster, chairman and chief executive officer, Ingram Micro Inc. Madden, a veteran of finance and strategy, joined Ingram Micro in July 2001, replacing Michael J. Grainger, who was promoted to president and chief operating officer earlier in the year. Prior to Ingram Micro, he served as senior vice president and CFO of Troy, Mich.-based ArvinMeritor, Inc., a global supplier of systems, modules and components for the automotive industry. Madden was instrumental in the merger of Meritor Automotive and Arvin Industries in 2000, as well as Meritor's spin-off from Rockwell International in 1997. At Meritor, he provided strategic leadership across all business units as the company expanded operating margins, which increased from 3.4 percent to 8.2 percent in a five-year period. From 1981 until Meritor's spin-off in 1997, Madden held various management positions of increased responsibility at Rockwell International, including vice president of corporate development, vice president of finance, assistant corporate controller among others. He began his career in 1975 as an audit manager for Coopers & Lybrand. Madden is a finalist in the 2001 CFO Magazine Excellence Awards recognized for driving revenue growth at ArvinMeritor. He is a certified public accountant and holds a masters in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and bachelor of science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with high honors in 1975.
