Ingram Micro Canada Announces Sourcing Agreement With GE Capital IT Solutions

Leading global distributor offers logistics and services infrastructure for GE Capital IT Solutions and acquires its configuration assets in Canada

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Dec. 5, 2000

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the largest global provider of wholesale technology products and services, today announced its Canadian subsidiary has entered into a sourcing agreement with GE Capital Information Technology Solutions, Inc. (GECITS). Ingram Micro Canada also will acquire GE Capital IT Solutions image management configuration assets in Canada.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ingram Micro Canada will provide product procurement services of hardware, software and personal computer products; logistics and order management; fulfillment; returns management; electronic data integration and custom configuration to Canadian customers. The agreement allows GE Capital IT Solutions to focus on a core competency of providing specialized, high-end technical services. Ingram Micro U.S. and GE Capital IT Solutions signed a multi-sourcing agreement last month for logistics and supply chain management services to U.S. customers.

We are pleased to pursue new opportunities with GE Capital IT Solutions, further strengthening our relationship between the two companies, said Asger Falstrup, president, Ingram Micro Canada. This agreement reinforces Ingram Micro Canadas position in the channel as a leader in product procurement, logistics and supply chain management solutions. GE Capital IT Solutions is able to leverage Ingram Micros core competencies and immense infrastructure to deliver creative technology solutions to its customers.

Efficient Supply Chain Management for CTO
Integrating GE Capital IT Solutions' configuration centre with Ingram Micro Canadas custom and scalable configure-to-order (CTO) capabilities will cut costs by eliminating one more step in the supply chain management process. Technology solution providers will be able to order product from Ingram Micro, request custom configuration and arrange direct shipment for their customers without having to handle product directly. The combination of Ingram Micros existing configuration centre with GE Capital IT Solutions' larger service capacity in Canada allows Ingram Micro to process up to 800 CPU units per day for either single configuration orders or larger customer project rollouts. We are very excited to enter into this relationship with Ingram Micro, said Robert Boulet, president and CEO, GE Capital IT Solutions Canada. Streamlining supply chain management provides real value to our customers and allows us to concentrate on providing the quality, innovative IT solutions and signature, high-end infrastructure support that customers have grown to expect from GE Capital IT Solutions.
