INGRAM MICRO OPENS ITS LARGEST DISTRIBUTION FACILITY TO DATE IN PENNSYLVANIA

JONESTOWN, Penn., May 16, 2000

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced it has opened a new Northeast distribution center in Pennsylvania's Lebanon Valley. At more than 600,000 square feet, the facility is the company's largest distribution center to date, with a potential for expansion that can bring the facility to a total of one million square feet.

The new facility celebrates its grand opening following a recent move from the company's former Northeast distribution center in Harrisburg, Penn. More than 600 Ingram Micro associates previously located in Harrisburg made the move to the Jonestown facility. The prior location, measuring 230,000 sq.-ft, is slated to be transitioned into a product return center for the company.

"This is not only our largest distribution facility, but it boasts the latest logistics technology and will offer even more efficiencies to allow Ingram Micro to provide close to flawless delivery of information technology (IT) products to the marketplace," said Terry Tysseland, senior vice president of operations, Ingram Micro Inc. "We are very proud of our world-class team, who provided a seamless transition to our new location in Pennsylvania's Lebanon Valley."

The new distribution center was completed in April, following 16 months of construction. The center will use state-of-the-art tracking and conveyor systems to ship and receive technology products to customers throughout the Northeastern United States, from Maine to Virginia. It currently possesses the capacity to ship up to 40,000 orders each day, which is more than double the output of the old facility.

"We are proud to have a global company like Ingram Micro as a member of our business community," said Steve Kohler, director, Governor's Action Committee for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. "The company's choice to initially build in Pennsylvania - and then to expand its operations - exemplifies our solid work force and dedication to bringing new economic opportunities into the state. The Ridge Administration will continue to work toward bringing Pennsylvania these types of technology jobs that will grow and position Pennsylvania to be a 'leader among states and a competitor among Nations.'"

The new distribution center sits on 105 acres of land and houses six miles of conveyor belts. The technologically advanced systems at the center will keep track of more than 22,000 different stock-keeping units (SKUs) for technology products. New sorting and tracking technology allows associates to locate any carton in the center at any time, ensuring speed on shipment.
