INGRAM MICRO SALES FORCE EARNS CISCO CERTIFICATION

SANTA ANA, Calif., May 16, 2000

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced that over 1,000 members of its U.S. sales force have recently earned Ciscos Certified Sales Expert status from Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) through the Cisco Sales Essentials (CSE) Small to Medium-Sized Businesses (SMB) training course.

The four-week training course provided the Ingram Micro sales team with fundamental knowledge of the Cisco SMB product line as well as an introduction to marketplace trends and opportunities related to SMB networking. As a result, they are better able to identify and create solutions to meet SMB customer requirements.

Ingram Micros support of Cisco certification programs demonstrates its dedication to keeping its sales force well-educated on the latest technology advancements, said Tushar Kothari, vice president of Channels at Cisco Systems. Ingram Micros efforts make it easier for its customers to buy Cisco products and it makes the company a great channel partner to work with.

The course also covered topics such as the Cisco value proposition and end-to-end network solutions for SMBs. As a result, the Ingram Micro sales team is trained to answer general and specific networking questions, as well as find the right SMB solutions for customers.

The great thing about this program is that most of our sales force is now certified by one of our top vendor partners, and we can offer immediate help to customers looking for answers to in-depth questions about Cisco and networking, said Julie Alai, Cisco business unit director for Ingram Micro. This program equates to increased service levels for resellers.

Upon completion of the CSE SMB training course, Ingram Micros sales team members are able to recognize SMB marketplace business, application and technology trends and describe market segments within the SMB marketplace.

Alai added, Ingram Micro is always looking to keep its sales team educated on the latest technology and information. This certification status further exemplifies that focus.
