INGRAM MICRO LAUNCHES HIGH-END STORAGE BUSINESS UNIT TO HELP RESELLERS CAPTURE GROWING MARKET

Company Adds Specialized Product Consulting Services And Support Programs To Help Resellers Deliver High-End Storage Solutions To Customers

SANTA ANA, Calif, April 3, 2000

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced the launch of the high-end storage business unit, a specialized team of sales and technical support professionals who provide product consulting services, technical support and other tools to help resellers increase sales in the growing high-end storage market.

A leader in helping resellers provide technology solutions to their customers, Ingram Micro has expanded its efforts to serve this market with the introduction of a dedicated high-end storage sales desk, which offers resources for product consulting, real-time price and availability, credit services and configuration support. The sales desk compliments an existing technical support help desk and is available to resellers toll-free as a one-stop resource to better help them deliver solutions to the high-end storage market.

Ingram Micro has designed the high-end storage business unit to be a resource to resellers who need instant access to all forms of product information and technical support to better serve this market, said Maureen Fraser, business unit director, high-end storage, Ingram Micro. By developing these tools, we are offering a resource to help resellers capture this market while it is still in its infancy. Because this is a real niche area, we want to empower resellers with a complete array of support services that will enable them to deliver solutions to their customers.

In addition, Ingram Micros high-end storage business unit is unifying multi-vendor product sales through a dedicated product management team focusing on expanding its product offerings and customer base. Other specialized tools to help resellers service the high-end storage market include special reseller roundtables, traveling seminars and expanded offerings on ingrammicro.com. Online support services include Web-based reseller trainings and an updated high-end storage Web page, which will be operational on April 13. Enhancements will include a more user-friendly interface, improved product summaries and promotion listings and new product information such as white papers and FAQs.

Specialized technical support also is available through the high-end storage help desk at 1-800-445-5066, ext. 76429. Hours of operation for the high-end storage sales desk and the technical support high-end storage help desk are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.  6 p.m. EST. Voicemail service is available for calls outside these hours.

The high-end storage market is comprised of Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, optical and tape storage systems, drive arrays, tape libraries and other solutions to build Storage Area Networks (SAN).
