INGRAM MICRO ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

J. Phillip Samper Retires; Kent B. Foster, Newly Appointed Ingram Micro CEO And President, Joins

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 6, 2000

Ingram Micro Inc., (NYSE:IM), the worlds largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced the retirement of J. Phillip Samper, 65, from the companys board of directors. Samper joined Ingram Micros board just prior to the companys IPO in October 1996 and has served on the executive committee and the human resources committee. As the newly appointed chief executive officer and president of Ingram Micro, Kent B. Foster, 56, will replace Samper on the board.

"The company and its shareholders deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication that Phil brought to the board," said Jerre L. Stead, chairman, Ingram Micro. "As a veteran of the rapidly changing information technology industry, he brought invaluable insight for the development of our new strategies to transform the company to address new market opportunities."

In addition to Ingram Micro, Samper has held top leadership and board director positions in Avistar Systems Corp., Cray Research Inc., Eastman Kodak Company, FRN Group, Gabriel Venture Partners, The Interpublic Group of Companies Inc., Quadlux Inc., PlaceWare Inc., Sun Microsystems Inc. and Sylvan Learning Systems Inc.
