Asger Falstrup, senior vice president, Ingram Micro Inc. and president, Ingram Micro Latin America, is responsible for driving the region's strategy and performance. A 20-year veteran of the information technology industry, Falstrup's ability to build operational infrastructures and create innovative technology services and solutions complements the region's strong management team. He was promoted to this position in November 2001. Prior to his promotion, he served as president, Ingram Micro Canada, leading the region's growth while maintaining its number one market share position. He joined Ingram Micro Canada in February 2000, moving from a position he held for three years as vice president, Northern Europe, for Ingram Micro Europe. Falstrup joined Ingram Micro when the company acquired The Datateam Group in 1994. Following the acquisition, Falstrup served as managing director for Ingram Micro Denmark and was appointed vice president for the Nordic region, where he was responsible for the companys operations in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. He was a co-founder of the Datateam Group of Companies in 1984 in Denmark. The company expanded by opening distribution and training subsidiaries in Sweden and Norway to become one of the strongest and largest PC and software distributors in the Nordic area. Prior to Datateam, Falstrup joined Texas Instruments in 1980 as sales manager in the consumer division and later became sales director for the companys computer division, where he was responsible for building and developing the companys dealer channel. He began his career in advertising and consumer goods marketing. Falstrup holds a bachelor's degree in business marketing from Niels Brock, Copenhagen Business College. He has also completed diploma studies in corporate management at Niels Brock, CBC, and management courses at MCE, Brussels and INSEAD, Fontainebleau.
