INGRAM MICRO BOLSTERS U.S. EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM

SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 11, 2000

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced executive additions and changes to its U.S. management team.

"The addition of new talent to our organization and the realignment of some executive roles will position our U.S. operation well for continued success," said Robert D. Grambo, executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro U.S. "We are building on the strength of our top management team to propel our $16 billion U.S. business forward and better serve our growing customer base. "

Patrick T. Collins, 39, has been named senior vice president of sales. Collins will lead the company's entire U.S. sales organization, including business units servicing the consumer, small-to-midsize business (SMB), government and education and corporate marketplaces.

Collins is a 15-year veteran of Frito-Lay Corp., where his most recent position was vice president and regional general manager of sales for the nation's leading snack food company. During his career, Collins also held prominent positions in finance and accounting for Frito-Lay.

Larry C. Boyd, 47, has joined the company as senior vice president, U.S. legal services. He will oversee legal services and contract management for Ingram Micro's U.S. operations. Boyd spent more than 20 years at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, one of the world's largest law firms, where he served first as an associate attorney and then as a partner since 1985.

"We are pleased to welcome Patrick and Larry to our team," said Grambo. "These seasoned professionals will further enhance the solid team of U.S. operational leaders we have in place."

Following the successful transition of sales duties to Collins, Lisa Balash-Baker, senior vice president of sales, and Debbie E. Tibey, senior vice president of sales, will retire from the company. "Both Lisa and Debbie have been driving forces in the rapid growth of our company throughout the years," said Grambo. "We thank them for their valued contributions and wish them much success in their future endeavors."

Ingram Micro also announced today the appointment of Jerry A. Lumpkin, 42, to the newly created position of senior vice president of marketing. Lumpkin previously served as senior vice president of product management for Ingram Micro and now will lead all strategic marketing initiatives for the company's vendor partners throughout the United States. Lumpkin will work closely with Ingram Micro's product management and sales divisions to further develop initiatives tailored more specifically to vendor marketing needs.

Ingram Micro's product management division now will be headed up entirely by Al E. Mann, 43, senior vice president of product management. A 12-year Ingram Micro veteran, Mann was appointed to his current position in June. He previously served as vice president of purchasing.

"These executive transitions will enable us to better leverage the expertise of Jerry and Al," said Grambo. "Their talents will be directed toward enhancing our vendors' positions in targeted markets and ensuring their success in the channel."

In addition, Cynthia A. McGuire, 49, has been promoted to vice president of human resources. McGuire will oversee human resources activities for Ingram Micro's U.S. operations, including staffing, employee relations, training, government compliance and field support. Throughout her 11-year tenure with Ingram Micro, McGuire has held positions of increasing responsibility within human resources and most recently served as senior director.

"Cynthia has been a tremendous asset to our company and her promotion is well-deserved," said Grambo. "She is an excellent choice to direct human resources functions serving our 8,000 U.S. employees."
