INGRAM MICRO APPOINTS CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICERSANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 12, 2000Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today appointed Guy P. Abramo, 38, as senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO). Abramo was named acting CIO in November and now officially will assume the top post responsible for driving the company's technology initiatives worldwide. Abramo joined Ingram Micro in October 1998 as senior vice president, marketing, worldwide. In March 1999, he was assigned to form the eSolutions Group, the company's integrated approach to its Web initiatives, combining marketing and information technology resources. "As head of the eSolutions Group, Guy led his team's efforts to advance our technology products to meet our customers' business needs," said Jerre L. Stead, chairman and chief executive officer for Ingram Micro. "We are very pleased that Guy will now devote his time exclusively to overseeing the development and application of world-class technology in our operations -- an area that continues to provide our company with a critical competitive advantage." Abramo will head Ingram Micro's worldwide IT organization, including the company's IT infrastructure and systems development. He will be responsible for defining and further progressing the company's business applications and electronic-commerce solutions. He also will be responsible for the development and deployment of all IT programs and software designs. Abramo joined Ingram Micro from Norwalk, Conn.-based Yankelovich Partners, one of the world's premier marketing and consulting firms. Prior to Yankelovich, he was managing director, marketing intelligence for KPMG Consulting, responsible for practice management, partner alliances and business development. Abramo earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and holds a master of business administration degree from Georgetown University.
