(NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced the launch of its electronic software distribution (ESD) program for its reseller and vendor partners. ESD is a leading-edge capability that streamlines delivery and maximizes service by providing a comprehensive list of top-selling software products distributed electronically. "The launch of our ESD program demonstrates Ingram Micro's continued innovation in providing the next generation of services," said Guy P. Abramo, senior vice president, worldwide marketing. "By providing ESD we increase speed to market and streamline software inventory in the supply chain." Ingram Micro's broad relationships in the software industry enable the company to build a comprehensive ESD solution, which targets a full range of software publishers from category leaders to small publishers not currently in the established distribution channel. Today's launch makes thousands of software titles available electronically from Ingram Micro through Netsales, an e-commerce service provider that aggregates software titles. The ESD program leverages existing business processes at Ingram Micro and the enabling technology from Preview Systems, which has been integrated into Ingram Micro's IT infrastructure. Preview Systems' distributed architecture enables Ingram Micro's resellers to deliver digital content directly to end users with a seamless, intuitive and secure experience. The ESD program from Ingram Micro is available for resellers and vendors that are requesting increased capability from the distribution channel.
