INGRAM MICRO, CISCO OFFER ENHANCED RESELLER SOLUTIONSSANTA ANA , Calif., Nov. 15, 1999Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced it will serve as one of three preferred distributors for Cisco Systems' Networking Products Marketplace for Resellers (NPMR), an online ordering and configuration tool for Cisco resellers. Resellers may select Ingram Micro to fulfill product requests and, through an online shopping list transfer capability, be electronically transported to Ingram Micro's site where buyers can choose from more than 225,000 other technology products carried by Ingram Micro. "The creation of the Cisco NPMR complements our existing electronic-commerce strategy to help our reseller customers do business more efficiently," said Guy Abramo, senior vice president, worldwide marketing for Ingram Micro. "Ingram Micro is aggressively pursuing a strategy of creating integrated alliances with its manufacturing partners and customers to help give our resellers the information and resources they need to provide outstanding customer service." Resellers using Cisco's NPMR have the ability to increase efficiencies by decreasing ordering time through the sophisticated tool, eliminating unnecessary tech support calls by increasing configuration accuracy, and providing quote-building capabilities to be sent to end-user customers. NPMR enables resellers to select, compare and configure Cisco products, while seamlessly entering Ingram Micro's infrastructure to access the broadest product selection, same-day shipping and full line of services resellers have come to expect from Ingram Micro. How NPMR Works With Ingram MicroWhen a reseller uses the NPMR to select Cisco products for configuration and validation, they are able to electronically transfer their shopping list to the preferred distributor and view real-time pricing and availability and fulfill the order. Choosing Ingram Micro transfers the electronic shopping list to the company's Web site through an application designed by Comergent Technologies Inc. The order is integrated into Ingram Micro's back-end fulfillment systems, allowing resellers to add to their online shopping trip from the Ingram Micro site. "By providing the solution for Ingram Micro to seamlessly coordinate with their channel partners during the sales process, Comergent allows distributors & resellers to easily conduct their business on the Web," said Jean Kovacs, Comergent's president and CEO. "We're pleased that Ingram Micro is working with our solution to help maximize customer online efficiencies." Partnerships Helping to Build Ingram Micro's Online Customer BaseUse of NPMR by resellers will have a positive effect on driving business to Ingram Micro's Web site, located at www.ingrammicro.com, which in turn increases business done electronically with Ingram Micro. Following a site redesign in September of this year, weekly traffic on Ingram Micro's site has recently increased approximately 70 percent to just under 15 million hits per week, making ingrammicro.com one of the world's most active business-to-business Web sites. Traffic on the site is expected to continue to increase as more customers turn to online ordering. NPMR is available now for all U.S. resellers by visiting Cisco. NPMR will be available to Canadian and European resellers by early 2000. About Ingram Micro Inc.Ingram Micro Inc.
