FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000 RELEASE
SANTA ANA , Calif., Nov. 7, 1999
Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today outlined its host of reseller support programs for the Microsoft Windows 2000 product launch. Ingram Micro will continue its long-standing relationship with the premier software publisher by selling Windows 2000 to authorized reseller customers after its launch date of Feb. 17, 2000.
"Ingram Micro is working strategically with Microsoft to bring the Windows 2000 operating system to the market through our resellers," said Donna Grothjan, vice president and general manager of software products for Ingram Micro. "By providing Windows 2000-related services and support to our resellers, we are helping to improve our resellers' position in the market, and in turn, grow their business. Microsoft is dedicated to working with the channel, which allows Ingram Micro to continue to enhance the value-added offerings we present to our customers."
To aid resellers in selling Windows 2000, Ingram Micro will offer pre- and post-sale technical support, volume licensing offerings and incentives available through the Microsoft Open License Program, knowledgeable sales representatives, as well as product and compatibility information.
"Resellers can feel confident about calling Ingram Micro for Windows 2000 technical support," Grothjan said. "They will have real-time access to highly experienced Microsoft NT and BackOffice teams. Almost a quarter of our entire technical support staff is dedicated to Microsoft, and these technicians are Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers (MCSEs) or Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs).
- Expert Technical Support Teams - Ingram Micro's team of 165 help-desk specialists will complete more than 3,500 hours of training on Windows 2000 and Windows 2000 third-party products. They will provide resellers with pre- and post-sale support inquiries. These qualified support specialists will provide quick and accurate responses to resellers' concerns and questions regarding product information and specifications, compatibility, troubleshooting for installation and other technical topics. Ingram Micro's expert technical support staff consists of MCSEs, MCPs, Microsoft Exchange Certified Specialists (MECSs) and a BackOffice Champion.
