INGRAM MICRO SELECTED BY CIO MAGAZINE AS TOP 100 COMPANY TO EXCEL IN 21ST CENTURYThe 1999 CIO-100 Award Honors The Top 100 Companies That Have Prepared For The New Economy And Are Strategically Leading The Business Community Into The Next Millennium SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 16, 1999Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced it is a recipient of the 1999 CIO-100 award given by CIO magazine. Now in its 12th year, the CIO-100 awards focus on survival and success in the new millennium. The honor designates Ingram Micro as a company that has the strategy, ability and drive to prosper well into the next century. "I am pleased that Ingram Micro has been named as one of this year's CIO-100 winners," said Richard J. Kish, Ingram Micro senior vice president, chief information officer and co-chair of the eSolutions Group for Ingram Micro. "This award recognizes our efforts to create a world-class, global organization that values its associates and customers while promoting the technology and infrastructure required to lead the evolving information-technology demand chain well into the next century. Our creation earlier this year of the eSolutions Group is a prime example of how we are prepared to continue to lead the industry." The eSolutions Group, formed in May, reflects Ingram Micro's continued commitment and investment in electronic-commerce technology by providing reseller and vendor partners with the latest suite of electronic business applications to compete successfully in the marketplace. According to Abbie Lundberg, CIO magazine's editor-in-chief: "The transition into the new economy will be a painful one for many organizations. Those that make it must possess the qualities of this year's CIO-100 winners. They must know their customers, leverage the Internet, invest in people, innovate like crazy and completely reinvent themselves if necessary. This year's honorees have excelled in these areas and their success is well worth celebrating." Winners of this year's CIO-100 were selected through a three-step process. First, a panel of 18 distinguished academicians, consultants and analysts nominated the companies they felt exemplified CIO magazine's criteria for being well-positioned to succeed beyond 2000. Second, CIO magazine staff conducted extensive research on the nominees. Finally, a team of CIO editors and writers voted on the 100 companies they felt best matched the requirements.
