INGRAM MICRO NAMES GERHARD SCHULMEYER, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF SIEMENS CORPORATION, TO BOARD OF DIRECTORSSANTA ANA, Calif., July 29, 1999Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced that Gerhard Schulmeyer, president and chief executive officer of Siemens Corp., has been named to the Ingram Micro board of directors, increasing the number of directors for the company to eight. "I am pleased to welcome Gerhard Schulmeyer to our board," said Jerre L. Stead, chairman and chief executive officer of Ingram Micro. "We take great pride in our global leadership of the technology distribution industry. Gerhard's vast experience leading some of the largest and most successful multinational corporations will be an enormous asset." In January 1999, Schulmeyer, 60, was named president and chief executive officer of Siemens Corp., the holding company for U.S. businesses of Siemens AG (Munich). Prior to assuming his current position, he served as president and chief executive officer of Siemens Nixdorf, Munich/Paderborn, a position he held since 1994. Before joining Siemens Nixdorf, Schulmeyer held several executive positions, beginning in 1989 at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) Ltd., where his final position was president and CEO of ABB Inc., as well as executive vice president and member of the executive committee of ABB Ltd. From 1980 to 1989, Schulmeyer held various positions at Motorola Inc., Schaumburg, Ill., the last being executive vice president, with responsibility for Motorola's European business. Before joining Motorola, Schulmeyer held several executive positions with international responsibility since beginning his career in 1962. Schulmeyer serves on several boards, including the supervisory board of Thyssen-Bornemisza (TBG Holdings); the board of directors of Alcan Aluminum Ltd., Montreal; Allied Zurich p.l.c., London; Zurich Financial Services, Zurich; Arthur D. Little, Cambridge, Mass.; and Korn/Ferry International, New York. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the MIT Corporation, Cambridge, Mass. |
