INGRAM MICRO NETS UNISYS OUTSOURCING AGREEMENT

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 27, 1999

Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced it has signed an outsourcing agreement with Unisys Corp. to provide IT procurement, logistics, systems configuration and assembly services for the Unisys Federal Online electronic-commerce system.

"Ingram Micro continues to establish itself as the leading services and solutions provider to the entire technology industry by providing IT resellers and vendors with contracted services," said Shelly Talbott, Ingram Micro general manager and vice president, sales. "Through this agreement, Unisys can offer even higher levels of customer service and reduce its operating costs by focusing on its core competencies and using Ingram Micro as an integral business partner."

Unisys will leverage Ingram Micro's unparalleled product breadth and superior execution to enhance its electronic-commerce capabilities. This innovative partnership between Ingram Micro and Unisys gives government customers the opportunity to purchase multivendor technology solutions -- including products usually not sold via distribution -- from a single source quickly and efficiently.

Through this strategic outsourcing arrangement with Ingram Micro, Unisys will offer its customers access to hundreds of thousands of computer and hardware products from name-brand technology vendors. Unisys Federal Online will tap into Ingram Micro's inventory to offer government IT buyers product and vendor breadth. Site users have the ability to search various Unisys contracts and the open market to purchase product. Ingram Micro will deliver these products to Unisys' government IT buyers and handle all returns. In addition, Unisys Federal Online users will have real-time access to technical-support representatives.

"Outsourcing product fulfillment and integration to Ingram Micro will help us reduce operating costs and increase our responsiveness to the government marketplace," said Lee Myers, vice president, Volume Technology Practice, Unisys Federal Systems. "We selected Ingram Micro in this endeavor because it is the forerunner in integrating the entire technology supply chain for maximum efficiency and service."

Today's announcement adds to the growing list of technology resellers and vendors that seek to conduct business proficiently and cost-effectively by leveraging Ingram Micro's strengths. In February, Software Spectrum Inc. announced a key partnership distribution agreement with Ingram Micro to outsource all of its physical distribution of products to customers in the United States and Canada. In April, Elcom International Inc. announced a major strategic outsourcing alliance, in which Ingram Micro is the primary supplier of personal computers for Elcom's U.S. corporate and consumer customers. Earlier this month, CompUSA Inc. signed a letter of intent with Ingram Micro for outsourcing services for its direct-sales fulfillment and configuration operations.

"These agreements benefit Ingram Micro by cementing its role as an integrated, entrenched partner in the technology supply chain, expanding its channel assembly and integration business, and introducing it to new market segments," Talbott explained.
