INGRAM MICRO NAMES VETERAN SENIOR DIRECTOR OF PURCHASING, SYSTEMSSANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 26, 1996 Walkey, 32, manages a team of 20 associates that purchases CPUs, monitors and related peripherals, including storage devices, memory and software from top-tier vendors IBM, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba and AST. According to Al Mann, vice president of purchasing, hardware: "Ingram Micro's purchasing department has had to keep up with the rapid growth the company has experienced over the last few years. This is quite a challenge. Mike's ability to continually adapt and create resources to accommodate these rapid changes is a good measure of his ability to continually meet the needs of Ingram Micro customers and vendors. Mike's innovative solutions coupled with his years of experience make him a great asset to Ingram Micro." Walkey joined Ingram Micro in 1990 as a buyer of CPUs and monitors. In 1992, he was promoted to senior buyer. In January 1994, Walkey was named purchasing manager. He was then promoted to director of purchasing, systems later that year. As senior director, he continues to report to Mann. Walkey holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Pepperdine University. Ingram Micro Inc.
