Ingram Micro Earns Top 100 Spot On Fortune 500 And Forbes 500 Sales List

Leading distributor ranked No. 391 on Forbes 500 Super Rank

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 14, 2003 -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services, maintained its Top 100 spot on this year's FORTUNE 500 list and FORBES 500 sales rank listings, despite a tough economy.

FORTUNE named Ingram Micro as the 76th largest publicly traded company in America and the 197th globally. The company earned the top spot for IT distributors, ranking along side of other industry leaders including PepsiCo (No. 62), American Express (No. 69), Honeywell Intl. (No. 78) and FedEx (No. 83). Wal-Mart once again solidified its No. 1 position on the list with General Motors and Exxon Mobil following.

The 35th annual Forbes 500, a "report card" on how America's largest companies performed, also showed Ingram Micro leading IT distributors at No. 73 in sales, a slight decline from 2001, and No. 391 on the publication's Super Rank, an aggregate score based on where a company falls on each of the 500s lists.

"Ingram Micro is proud to be recognized by two of the industry's most prestigious business lists as a top U.S. and global company," said Kent Foster, chairman and chief executive officer, Ingram Micro Inc. "Our continued success is a testament to the watchful eye our team has on creating profitable growth and identifying new market opportunities for our IT reseller customers and vendors. We found ways to work smarter, while keeping a strong focus on delivering greater shareowner value by leading the IT distribution industry in all we do."

This past year Ingram Micro focused on strengthening its market position and the overall value provided to its customers. Under the leadership of Ingram Micro's global executive team, the company gained momentum in all parts of the world, increased gross margins to an IT distribution industry high of 5.62 percent in the fourth quarter of 2002, and identified new business opportunities for both customers and vendors.
